Producer D-Dot Tells Story Of Unfinished Lil Kim & Nicki Minaj Collaboration
It was the ultimate female rap co-sign: Lil Kim hops on a track with underground-bubbling-but-mainstream-nobody Nicki Minaj to keep the female rap torch ablaze. The only problem—it never quite happened.
Hip-hop web heads were left perplexed after an un-mastered track called “Everywhere We Go,” which featured the currently feuding Kim and Minaj, hit the Internet earlier this month, with drops from storied producer Deric “D-Dot” Angelettie seemingly certifying it’s authenticity. The former Bad Boy beatmaker told VIBE that the two-year-old track was intended to be a Queen Bee and Barbie collab, but Kim never laid her verse.
“As soon as Kim came home from jail—right before Dancing With The Stars—I was like, ‘There’s this new bitch that's about to be hot, you might want to fuck with her,’” remembers D-Dot, who laid the beat. “Nicki came to the studio and did the verse with me. She hadn't even met Kim.”
“[Lil Kim] said ‘cool when you put Nicki on it send it back to me,’” he continues. “I sent it back and she never re-did a new verse. So that's the same old Lil Kim reference verse.”
D-Dot, also known as hip-hop interlude royalty The Mad Rapper, says he’s not sure why Kim never recorded original vocals for the song, or how the track made it’s way to the ‘Net. “I didn’t leak the record. The only people that had a copy was Lil Kim and me,” he says. “So I don't really know where that came from.
“I would've called Nicki and called Kim and mixed it. Make it hot.”

Kim did a phone interview with Miss Jones' controversial morning show last week, where she talked about the beef, new music, her former manager, and she even answered a question about plastic surgery (her answer was somewhat disappointing, though).
What are you supposed to do when Lil' Kim approaches you in a back room at Enclave nightclub and puts her arm around you?
Not knowing what to do, I kissed the "How Many Licks?" rapper on the cheek. That's not really my style, but I figured that's what she was going for.
It wasn't.
Her right arm would remain wrapped around me until her manager told her I was there to interview her, not take a picture with her.
"I just figured you were really friendly," I said, hoping a joke would kill the awkwardness.
It didn't.
Nevertheless, there was an interview to conduct, and quickly (she was in a rush to get on stage for a performance).
"I'm not really focusing on a new album," said Kim, real name Kimberly Jones, a little after 1 a.m. Saturday. "I'm focusing more on singles. I'm dropping a single in July. I'm going to keep dropping singles until I think fans are ready for an album."
Kim, who didn't show any of the attitude you see in her racy music videos, wouldn't confirm reports that she has signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation record label. "There are a lot of offers on the table right now. It's not a done deal," she said.
